A common question I get asked is what exactly are we doing/offering at Empyreal Equine... Questions like do we teach riding lessons, do we provide emergency first aid services, are we a non-profit, ect.... has shown me that a clearer explanation of our company is needed.
Empyreal Equine is simply my brand that encompasses all of my equine related business and charity.
No, I am not a non-profit. I strongly considered this route, but after much research and learning the legalities of operating a non-profit as well as the statistics of failed non-profit start-ups, I decided to operate as a for-profit small business with a social cause. Meaning, revenue earned supports my mission of rescuing horses.
Eventually I would like to be able to pay myself a living wage and support my rescue efforts but for now I have a second job with an employer so that all revenue goes back into the company or non-profit partnerships.
So, what is our business? What services do we offer?
I teach a number of equine wellness and first aid courses as an independent instructor with Equi-First Aid USA. I love this because, it is in alignment with my goal of creating a better life for horses through educating and preparing horse owners. I have dabbled and plan to expand in used tack sales. And we offer merchandise as well as curated first aid kits.
What is our charity component? Revenue earned goes directly back into Empyreal Equine for projects such as building out holding paddocks and our stables so that we can foster, train, and re-home rescue horses. We also offer permanent board for geriatric or special needs horses. As well as fundraising efforts or sponsorship's for non-profit rescue groups.
